Big Turnout for the Fall 2019 HPF Trail Ride
On September 14th, over 70 horses and riders met at the Tack Shack in Fremont, NH to participate in the first Hidden Pond Equine Rescue Trail Ride. It was a festive atmosphere, with live music provided by New Threads. Many thanks to The Tack Shack for allowing us access to their property, the Rockingham Riding Club for marking the trails for the ride, Amanda Hanson of Boulder Brook Stables for help with the raffle, and Fairway Horse Transport and Graceful Image Farm for their sponsorship.
HPF’s Phyllis Elliott was thrilled: “Despite some trail construction that required rerouting the start, a swarm of bees, and of course the rain we always get, it was a success and tons of fun. 2020 is already booked for September 12. See all of you riders and hopefully more, with the possibility of sun. Law of averages says we are due. Thank you donors, sponsors, volunteers and riders!”
May 2019: Phyllis and HPF on The Cheshire Horse Blog
On May 6th, For the Love of the Horse, a blog from The Cheshire Horse, profiled Phyllis and the Rescue. It’s an in-depth article that tells the story of the Rescue from Phyllis’ perspective, with great photos and stories of horses that have been rescued.
Join our Premarin Postcard Campaign!
We’re organizing a postcard mailing campaign with two goals in mind: 1) to encourage gynecologists and general practitioners to prescribe hormone products that don’t include equine-derived estrogens, and 2) let Pfizer know that women who love horses aren’t going to use Premarin or other “mare’s urine” drugs. All the info you need—along with sample messages for Pfizer and your doctor—is right here.
Galloping to the Rescue
NH Magazine’s Feb 2019 issue includes an article by Lynne Snierson about several New Hampshire equine rescues, including Hidden Pond Farm. “The animals that people love the most are often the ones most endangered by neglect or abuse. And when those animals weigh 1,000 pounds or more, the challenge to those who would save them becomes just as enormous.”
