Community

They say it takes a village, and it does. Our community includes the wonderful people who take care of the Rescue’s veterinary and wellness needs, and organizations that educate the public and fight to end horse slaughter, as well as the many equine rescues with which we collaborate. We couldn’t do what we do without their support and expertise.

The American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC) is dedicated to preserving American wild horses and burros in viable free-roaming herds for generations to come, as part of our national heritage. Our goal is to protect America’s wild horses and burros by stopping the federal government’s systematic elimination of these national icons from our public lands. It’s not too late to act to save the mustangs!

ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

The ASPCA is dedicated to ensuring equines nationwide live good lives. To that end, we’re developing innovative programs and partnerships with the equine welfare community, as well as equine industries, to help at-risk, abused or neglected horses, and horses in transition. Our efforts to protect equines focus on three main areas: helping horses find homes, keeping horses safe, and combating cruelty and responding to crises

Our mission is to save slaughter-bound miniature horses by intercepting them at a few different points in the slaughter pipeline. We then rehabilitate them, love them and get them ready for their forever homes. We also have a very small animal sanctuary at home set on 5 acres of land. We have quite a few permanent residents (horses, goats, ducks, chickens) who require special care.

The Homes for Horses Coalition
  • https://homesforhorses.org/

The Homes for Horses Coalition is a national coalition dedicated to increasing collaboration, professionalism and growth in the equine rescue and protection community. Our members are committed to ending horse slaughter and all other forms of equine abuse.

The coalition is a joint initiative of the Animal Welfare Institute, the ASPCA and The Humane Society of the United States. We currently have more than 440 members representing horse rescue and sanctuary throughout the U.S. and beyond.
