We first met Fulton at the Unadilla, NY auction in July 2017. He had been sold to a rendering plant buyer for $35, but luckily a friend of the Rescue was able to buy him directly from the buyer for $50, and we got him out of there to safety.
Once upon a time, Fulton was a very successful trotter on the racing circuit (“Mythical Connection” was his registered Standardbred name). He was racing in Scarborough, Maine in July 2015 (and winning!). At some point he developed severe neurological issues and was dumped at the auction in Unadilla two years later.
Once he arrived at a foster barn in upstate NY, he was assessed by a vet from Cornell University. He had various serious neurological problems, but had a real zest for life and a positive outlook. He had a good life at the foster barn as a pasture-sound horse.
Fulton had difficulty getting up and was humanely euthanized on April 21, 2021. at the farm where he lived for 4 good years. We thank Cindy and Tom Noll for their excellent, loving care. He was a great horse that got a great second chance.
