Rosie was very skittish when she arrived in June 2021—she was nearly totally blind. Over time, she relaxed as she found her way around and learned to trust the people she interacted with every day at the farm. In that email last year, we said “Rosie is just 13 years old. She will stay at the Rescue for the rest of her life, because it would be far too stressful for her to get acclimated to a new environment.”
We are sad to tell you that Rosie is no longer with us. In addition to having Cushing’s and laminitis, she developed respiratory problems this summer that made it difficult for her to breathe. We did everything we could to help, but in the end the most humane and loving thing we could do was to put her down. And so, on a beautiful, sunny day in October 2023, she was gently laid to rest, surrounded by people who loved and cared for her during her time at the Rescue.
We want to express our gratitude to our donors and volunteers for the many ways they supported Rosie while she was here, from covering expenses for her care to patiently helping her settle in and showering her with love and kindness every day. Thank you for your generous support.
